For four centuries of its existence Novodevichy Convent was a witness and participant of important historical events connected with the names of Ivan the Terrible, Boris Godunov, the tsarevna Sophia, Peter I. The architectural ensemble of the monastery formed by the end of the XVII century is still one of the best one in Russia.
